Volunteer with us
With a Host or Partner Congregation
Host and partner congregations host our families in the evenings, provide “bedroom” space for each family, and provide meals. Host and partner congregations need volunteers to spend the night, prepare meals, and help with the Saturday group activities. Find out what churches and congregations are seeking volunteers, or contact your congregation and let them know you would be interested in working with them as a host congregation!
With Our Literacy and Job Center
We are seeking volunteers to come and sit in the literacy center. You may be asked to help with online job applications, basic computer questions, and to generally supervise computer use and ensure that computers are being used in an appropriate manner for a family-friendly environment.
With Our Graduate Mentorship Program
We are currently developing a Graduate Mentoring Program. This program will be based on the format provided by our national organization. We will be scheduling mentor trainings soon.
The goal of this program is to provide another form of ongoing support for our graduated families. Families will be matched with a volunteer mentor when they enter the shelter. They will meet weekly with the mentor to develop a relationship. After the guest graduates from our shelter, the mentor will continue to meet with the graduate to provide ongoing support. If you are interested, please let us know, and we will keep you updated on our progress. We also will be updating the web page as we have more information.
