Mid-year Report – Family Promise of Albuquerque.

Last fiscal year (July 2016 to June 2017) we had to opportunity to serve so many amazing famlies, work with some amazing donors and volunteers, and grow our organization by adding more programs and opening our day center to more families than ever before. Right now we are about half way through our fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) so we wanted to share a mid-year report, and let everyone know how we are doing!

We are only half-way through the 17-18 fiscal year, and we are already exceeding expectations.

Starting the year, we set a goal of serving 21 families in our shelter program where they are given the stability to save money, find employment, enroll in school, and build the skills they need to get into their own home and become independent.

We have already served 15 families though the Interfaith Hospitality Network, reaching 71% of our goal.

These 15 families were composed of 46 individuals including 24 children. Those families also participate in the programs at our day center, including job search assistance, life skills classes, access to our laundry and shower facilities, and one-on-one case management.

We also have an average of 44 individuals attending the classes at the day center.

Last year we offered 92 classes including budgeting, parenting, goal setting, and the ICAN cooking class series with guest presenter Kim Tackett though the NMSU Cooperative Extension program.

All of these programs and classes are made possible by our amazing volunteers all over the Albuquerque area. Last year, volunteers contributed over 20,000 hours of their time to helping local families by staying overnight in the shelter, providing transportation, helping with job applications, teaching skills classes, and preparing meals.

In fact, we served about 4500 meals last year.

This includes a few special meals prepared by our families at the day center thanks to the generous donations of food from Longhorn Steakhouse on Coors, Chipotle UNM, and Starbucks at Washington and Lomas.

Stats from FPA fiscal year

We have had a great 6 months, and it’s only getting better! In the coming months we will be fundraising, planning and bringing in even more volunteers. If you are interested in joining our board, please contact us here for more information and the application.
